State-owned Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv Region) intends to construct a second runway by 2012. Yuriy Solonchuk, acting director general of the airport, said, “We are timing the new runway for completion for the EURO 2012 Football Championship, which will be held in Poland and Ukraine. The airport plans to carry out the design works of the second runway in 2008 and begin construction works in 2009.”
